Project Status: At the November 20, 2018 Board of Trustees meeting the Board unanimously voted not to proceed with the sanitary sewer project for Blue River Estates at this time. With the resident survey overwhelming opposed to the project and the environmental status ranking moderate rather than extreme as in other areas, this area may be revisited at a later date as the environmental concerns remain. The project may also be revisited at the request of residents by means of an amended petition.
Project Summary: The Blue River Estates neighborhood is located in unincorporated Whitley County (Columbia Township and Thorncreek Township) approximately one quarter mile northeast of the corporate limits of Columbia City along State Road 9. The nearest sewage treatment provider is the municipal utility of Columbia City who has expressed a willingness to provide treatment services for this project.
